Birth + Postpartum Support

A birth doula will support you through your pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum period. Providing nutritional support, childbirth education, assistance in defining your birth preferences, advocacy for those preferences throughout your birth, hands-on massage, counter-pressure, and encouragement throughout labor, as well as nurture and support when baby arrives.

The role of the mother’s primary support person can never be replaced, but with a doula that person doesn’t have to worry about what to do or what comes next – he can be present as a parent. Women who have given birth with a doula by their side agree that she helped provide a gentle and more satisfying birth experience.

A Doula’s Role During Childbirth:

• Guide you through visualizations
• Help you understand the physiology of labor and birth
• Provide soothing touch and cupping massage
• Suggest ways to include your partner
• Advocates for the mother and helps facilitate
communication  between mother and care provider
• Instill in you the confidence to gain information to give  informed consent
• Prepare you for your birth experience through education, open discussion, and providing you with necessary resources
• Give you reassurance
• Suggest position changes
• Create a relaxing environment
• Suggest various pain coping techniques
• Use aromatherapy, cupping therapy and hydrotherapy
• Offer words of encouragement

Do not hesitate to reach out to discuss a fee that feels right for us both! I believe everyone should have the opportunity to have a Doula. Payment plans are available. Please call or e-mail to see what we can work out for you. We ask that the payment be received in full by 36 weeks gestation. It’s better to have the finances covered and in place so that your birthing experience and our relationship stays relaxed and as smooth as possible.

Your Birth Doula package will include:

comfort her, nourish her,
nurture her

You deserve the right support as you bring your baby into the world, regardless of your birth setting.

A postpartum doula can help a healing mother and new family transition through the first days, weeks and months after baby's arrival. The transition from birth to postpartum can be an easy transition with a postpartum doula. Having a nurturing, supportive person alongside you as you care for your newborn and yourself, shows that mothers feel better, are more rested and healthier. They are also empowered about the parenting choices they have made for their family and are provided education as needed through the doula's visit. Our expert Mama Nourished doula can provide necessary referrals if a mother is struggling in a particular area as well. In addition, Mama Nourished can provide rejuvenating massage cupping therapy for the postpartum Mother in a location of her choice (most prefer in home service).

As your postpartum doula I strive to care for and nourish you and your family as you recover and adjust to life with a newborn. I hope to mother you as you discover confidence in your parenting skills and trust your instincts. When you are well cared for and are given the opportunity to rest and relax you are better able to care for and mother your own child. I am there for you during your "fourth trimester" to offer information and resources, help around the house, and to provide emotional support.

Having a postpartum doula is a great start to your mothering journey with baby at your side.
